HOW TO READ THE BIBLE SCROLL – SUMMARY EXPLANATION

This panoramic illustration is a precis of the Bible Story. We encourage you to spend time looking at how it is put together and let it challenge you to read more into the parts of the Bible that stand out to you .

Be challenged by its content, weigh it up in your own mind and if you need clarification of what it sets out, pray for His illumination through the Holy Spirit. Do this in the pursuit of His truth and you will be greatly blessed.

To get the best understanding of how the illustrations on this scroll interrelate you might find it useful to follow the following key steps. We hope you will enjoy the challenge and gain from it.

Step One

Look at the top red band. This represents the overall authority of God’s Holy Spirit from the beginning to the end of time.

Step Two

Look for the various yellow ribbons within this red band. These show the names of the books which were collated to form the historical record of the events of the Bible.

Whilst traversing this red band read the various other notices and see the red ‘down arrows’ that represent God’s direct contacts with humanity through time. Pause at the cross of Jesus and see how this period anchors the world’s date lines of BC and AD. Then move on to the ‘Present’ time indicated by the vertical Yellow stripe. Imagine this as a cursor on life that can be slid left or right along the ‘Slide Rule’ of time.

Then go back to the beginning.

Step Three

Read through the “Days” of Creation and see how closely the Bible Word coincides with modern scientific explanations. On the sixth day came Adam and Eve, in other words the arrival of Mankind as we know it. God said that the 7th day was made for Mankind and this day has lasted for over six thousand years through to the present day. This suggests that the “days” of creation were “God” days each lasting many many “Man” days. Even suggesting that each of those “days” are still unfolding now. Each one telescoping out of the one before it.

Step Four

Search along the thin blue line from the beginning to the Signpost marking Adam and Eve. This covers the time span during which God’s preordained Word developed from very simple expressions, grunts and noises into a form of true verbal communication. Mankind’s first language. At this point came the first great breakthrough from the Holy Spirit , the Author of Life (note the red-down arrow). This breakthrough was conscious contact direct with Mankind. We read how Adam and Eve conversed and spoke directly with God.

Continue along the blue line to the end and see how the initial word of mouth became hand written and then into the printed word. , from oral word of mouth accounts came the development of the written and then printed word, which we still use and rely on today.

Study also the green and yellow lines (just above) as you go. Then return to the signpost of Adam.

Step Five

See the genealogy of names starting with Adam. Move to the right, along the list of the first-born males of each generation. Follow this line through to Joseph and Mary and the birth of Jesus. On the way read the various notices between the lineage and the top red band. These show the prophesies of future evens, especially of the life of the Lord Jesus, thus proving the veracity of the word.

They show the prophesies of the coming of the Lord Jesus and everything that would happen to him.

Step Six

Below the generations from Adam to Jacob, is a broad red graph which shows the respective ages of these early Bible characters. Take time to see how the scaling works and notice that Adam was still alive when Noah’s father was alive and how Noah was still alive when Abraham came on the scene. So, in two generations we cover some 2000 years of history. The early passing on of history and truth was by word of mouth. But as this was through only two generational leaps, it gives credence to the authenticity of the Bible stories that were passed to Jacob and Moses when the written documents setting out history was just developing.

Notice also how the ages of each generation began to fall – from nearly 1000 years of the early generations down to Jacob at 147. Then through to the “three score years and ten” which has appertained through much of recent history.

At this point read also the notices framed in Red.

Step Seven

On the graph – notice the down line from Noah’s son Shem and see how the three sons’ descendants (shown in green, red and blue) developed into the nations of the world.

At the generation of Jacob see how his family tree evolved into the 13 tribes of Israel. Move along to the right and see how they then split into the two nations of Judah and Israel. Move further, to about 600 B.C. and see how Israel was overrun by the Assyrians to vanish from history. The First Diaspora, as prophesied.

Step Eight

From here follow the blue line of Judah. Pass the 70 years of deportation to Babylon, followed by the overrule of the Medes and Persians. On through the rule of the Greeks and then the cruel rule of the Romans (who nailed Jesus up on the cross) and later to the scattering of the people of Judah (the Jews), to live amongst the nations of the world, in a Last Diaspora. All as prophesied.

See how the Roman Empire split into two legs and then into many nations of today. Then see, also as prophesied, that the Jews came to return to their promised land which was to be called the nation of Israel.

Step Nine

Now glance through the telescoping Revelation story from 98 AD to the Yellow Band/Cursor of The Present Day. See the seven thunders of the Atomic Age and the seven vials of the poisons and pollution of modern mankind.

See the falling rock of the return of Christ to be King for a millennium reign when eventually all things end and revert to the Author of it all.

Read now the great prophecy of Daniel and if time allows start with the time of Adam and read the paragraphs along the bottom of the panoramic display. These give a deeper understanding of how the scriptures came to become the amazing eclectic mix of the books of The Bible.

Step Ten

And finally, over to you, the reader.

To really grasp what the Bible is all about requires you to be committed to read and study its contents. It is recommended you start with the New Testament – preferably the Gospels and within them particularly the words in the Gospel of John. There you will find everything you need to know about life, the beautiful love filled life that can be enjoyed by those who first have faith, then acquire knowledge and ultimately experience the joy and understanding of and communication with, our loving heavenly Father.
